4MW biogas plant to supply 30 million kwh per annum by Private Independent Producer. Under construction in 2015.  The Electricity Power Corporation (EPC) formalised power purchasing agreements with 2 Samoa owned Energy companies around March 2015. 

  1. The companies include the Biogen 3Company which specialises in biomass renewable energy. Biogen 3 has a processing plant at Tafaigata with a capacity to produce 4,000 kilowatts.
  2. Village Life Energy Company, the second firm which specialises in converting waste to energy is also promising to sell 6,000 kilowatts to EPC.
  3. Samoa Tyre Recycle Ltd was also proposing to build a 4MW pyrolysis waste to energy plants and supply 25 million kwh per annum.  Pyrolysis plant to convert old tyres to synthetic gas and to energy. 

14 Samoan owned and overseas companies have registered interests with the National Energy Coordinating Committee to institute renewable energy projects.
